Paris, September 7, 2022 – happytal, expert in the digitalization of hospitals and interactive patient care, joins La Poste’s Health and Autonomy branch and becomes a subsidiary.
The partnership between happytal and La Poste aims to support hospitalized patients through a range of interconnected (face-to-face and digital) services seeking to maximize hospital comfortability. Happytal will work alongside La Poste's other health subsidiaries and will initially rely on the local services already offered by the group to ensure a a complete follow-up, before, during and after hospitalization.
Happytal, expert in patient care
Founded in 2013, happytal is the French leader in the digitalization of hospital patient care, present in over 130 different hospitals with 370 employees. Happytal offers logistical solutions enabling patients to complete their registrations or their private room requests online and allows the health care establishment to automate external payments. Happytal equally developed a concierge service so patients, carers, and healthcare officials have access to more products and services, and benefit from a better quality of work life.
happytal, a company supported by Partech via the Venture fund
Created in 2013 by Pierre Lassarat and Romain Revellat, happytal received its first institutional support from Partech in 2016 via its Venture fund (Partech International Venture VII).
“Since the beginning of our collaboration with happytal, we had full confidence in Romain and Pierre and supported them to create the hospital's referral partner in terms of quality of patient care, online registrations all the way to post-hospital support’, comments Jean-Marc Patouillaud, General Partner at Partech.
A strong shared ambition: to create a global operator for patient care
With this acquisition, La Poste, a trusted player in the domestic health sector since 2017, has strived to be the principal partner of the automation of care providers in France. Through its subsidiary Asten Santé, it already services chronic patients at home, or online appointments via its subsidiary Nouveal. La Poste also aids patients once they return home post-hospitalization with services such as delivering medicine or bespoke meals, or other personalized services provided by its subsidiaries Axeo Services or Age d’Or Services. Their goal is to boost happytal into the principal intermediary for hospitals to coordinate and streamline its service offer for hospitals and clinics.
A tried and tested partnership
La Poste has been working with happytal since December 2021 via an experimentation that offers postal services (delivery of mail, stamp purchases, prepaid packages...) in 17 French hospitals, for patients and the hospital personnel. Thanks to this partnership, built on shared values of proximity and services, La Poste and happytal strengthen their collaboration to offer a larger range of services useful to both patients and hospital personnel.
“At happytal, we share La Poste’s vision to develop services which care for patients from A to Z and for people short of autonomy; we have held this vision for ten years now.” say Pierre Lassarat and Romain Revellat, co-founders of happytal. “We are convinced of the necessity to synergize the best of technology and humanity to bring about solutions that are both tangible and adapted to users. This has turned a page in our history which we are only starting to write. To share it with La Poste is both a huge source of pride and a demonstration of the importance of our services and the solutions which we have been able to provide to patients and to the personnel of the establishments which we are partnered with”.
“The French population is aging, which brings with it a growing need for health care services, both at hospital and at home. By becoming the majority stakeholder in happytal, La Poste has committed to working with healthcare professionals and institutions, seeking to facilitate patient care before, during, and after their hospitalization.” says Philip Dorge, deputy managing director in charge of the Services-parcel-package branch at La Poste, welcoming the acquisition.
“This demonstrates a new business activity that is part of La Poste’s diversification into the health sector. Today, La Banque postale is the first bank financer of public hospitals and La Poste generates €700M in turnover from health services (logistics, data, domestic and telecare medical support). Our ambition is to reach the billion mark very soon with useful services for healthcare institutions, professionals, and patients.”
“The aim of this merger is to capitalize on happytal’s presence in health establishments and its expertise as an integrator to create a single operator made up of interconnected services (administrative, medical, and from proximity) which improves patient support,” adds Delphine Mallet, director of La Poste’s health and autonomy division. “We want to provide comprehensive support to patients while connecting them to medicine from cities.”
